Tom’s Guide’s 7 top-ranked mattresses
1. Saatva Classic (queen): $2,099 now $1,799 at Saatva
There's a $300 discount on Saatva's site in the extended Memorial Day sale, reducing a queen size to $1,799 (was $2,099.) That's not the lowest price we've seen in recent months but we do think this exceptional hybrid is worth the money even at full MSRP. In our Saatva Classic Mattress review we gave it an unprecedented score of five out of five stars: it delivers exceptional support and has a luxury feel, while the quilted pillow top eliminated one of our tester's hip pain. It's a true all-rounder, and with three firmness levels available it suits most sleep styles. You get a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty, and free White Glove Delivery.
Our review: ★★★★★
User score: ★★★★★ (4,000+ reviews)
Ideal for: All sleepers; back pain; luxury comfort
Normal price: twin from $1,099
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $999 at Saatva
2. DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid (queen): $649 at DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Memorial Day sale isn't anything special, but this is our top-ranked mattress in a box, and it's already phenomenally good value for money. Its current price of $649 for a queen beats the Black Friday price of $665, although it isn't quite as good as the exremely rare $599 flash sale we spotted last month. The mattress has undergone a slight redesign, so we doubt we'll see that record-low price again any time soon. You get a 365-night sleep trial, lifetime warranty, and free shipping and returns, plus the all-round support that stood out in our DreamCloud mattress review.
Our review: ★★★★½
User score: ★★★★½ (9,000+ reviews)
Ideal for: Couples; people with back and hip pain
Normal price: twin from $419
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $399 at DreamCloud
3. Helix Midnight Mattress (queen): $1,332 now $972.36 at Helix with code TOMS27
The Helix Midnight mattress is our top mattress for side sleepers thanks to its plush top, which yields beneath your shoulders, hips and knees to reduce pressure build-up, preventing numb arms and dead legs. In our Helix Midnight Mattress review we described it as "deceptively supportive" (although it is a little weak at the edges — upgrade to the Helix Midnight Luxe for stronger side support.) You can save 27% with code TOMS27, and it comes with a 100-night sleep trial plus a lifetime warranty. We haven't seen a lower price for the Helix Midnight so far this year, but it did come with free pillows on Black Friday so this deal isn't as good value.
Our review: ★★★★
Ideal for: All side sleepers, plus those with hip pain
Normal price: twin from $794
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $729.03 at Helix
4. Nectar Classic mattress (queen): $649 at Nectar
I've seen the same Nectar mattress deal for a long time now: it isn't new for Memorial Day. But you won't find a better memory foam mattress at this price. The Nectar Classic delivers all the hallmarks of an all-foam bed (cushioning, motion isolation), with enough all-round comfort to earn the top spot in our best memory foam mattress guide. The upper foam layers yield under pressure to 'hug' the joints for a cushioned feel, but our review panel found the medium-firm feel also has ample support. It will suit a lot of sleep styles and as the dense foams deaden movement, it's a good choice for couples. Plus, it doesn't overheat which can be an issue for all-foam beds in this price bracket.
Our review: ★★★★½
User score: ★★★★½ (50,000+ reviews)
Ideal for: Combi sleepers; couples; fans of firmer foam
Normal price: twin from $349
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $349 at Nectar
5. Zinus 12" Green Tea Memory Foam (full): $239.99 now $203.99 at Amazon
While there are much bigger price drops happening in the Memorial Day sales, $203.99 for a full size Zinus 12" Green Tea Memory Foam is a return to the cheapest price we've seen it at this year (during the Presidents' Day sales). There are many sizes, heights and versions of this budget bed-in-a-box and in our Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress review we scored it highly for motion isolation and cradling pressure relief, but marked it down for weak edge support and temperature control. Therefore, skip this if you need a mattress that's breathable and easy to get in and out of – consider the Nectar Classic (above) at $649 instead as that's a firmer and more breathable all-foam mattress. Outside the full the deals aren't great but either way, it's a cheap mattress all round.

Ideal for: Lightweight side sleepers; guest rooms
Normal price: twin from $209.09
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $209.09 at Amazon
6. Siena 8" Memory Foam Mattress (queen): $279 now $179 at Amazon
The Siena 8-inch Memory Foam Mattress is a good option for a guest room set-up: it's easy on the budget, from a reliable brand (Siena is owned by Resident Home, the parent company behind Nectar and DreamCloud), and promises a medium-firm feel to suit most sleep styles. While we haven't tested the 8-inch model, its 10-inch upgrade earned high praise in our Siena Memory Foam Mattress review. Right now a queen is only $179, which is the lowest price we've spotted, and exceptional value for money. At 8 inches tall, it's under our recommended mattress thickness for adults, but it should still provide support in the short-term. If you want a very cheap hybrid mattress, consider the 10-inch Allswell Hybrid above, at $194 for a twin.
User score: ★★★★½ (500+ reviews)
Ideal for: Heavier people; those who love firm beds
Normal price: twin from $149
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $109 at Amazon
7. Westin Heavenly Bed + box spring (queen): $2,995 now $1,946.75 at Westin Hotel Store
The Westin Heavenly Bed is a mattress and box spring combo that residents sleep on (and rave about) at Westin Hotels and Resorts. This pocket sprung mattress has a similar feel to the Saatva Classic (our top choice for Memorial Day), but adds an extra dollop of softness up front with a plush pillow top, making it a comfy choice for side sleepers of all body weights. This is one of the best prices we've seen it sell for this year, with a queen reduced to $1,946.75 (was $2,995) – that's over $1,050 off. The Westin Heavenly Bed takes four to six weeks to make and ship, but once you receive it you'll be covered by a 10-year warranty.
Ideal for: Luxury hotel comfort at home; couples
Normal price: twin from $1,645
Today’s best Memorial day deal: twin from $1,069.25 at Westin Store
Memorial Day mattress sales: under $500
1. Sleep Innovations 8" Gel Memory Foam Cooling Mattress (queen): $349.99 now $172 at Walmart
This is a medium-firm mattress suitable for all sleeping styles, crafted from a 2" top layer of gel-memory foam which prevents overheating and a 6" layer of premium base foam for sturdy support. This Sleep Innovations gel foam mattress is best for those who prefer an adaptive bed, helping you maintain a healthy body alignment while delivering great cooling comfort. The bed comes encased in a soft knit cover which provides the perfect cozy sleep throughout the night. You can save up to $177.99 on a queen sized mattress dropping the original MSRP from $349.99 to $172 at Walmart.
Ideal for: Hot sleepers people; those who love a firm feel to their bed
2. Siena 8" Memory Foam Mattress 8" (queen): $279 now $179 at Amazon
The Siena 8" Memory Foam Mattress for the ideal guest room set-up: it's easy on the budget, from a reliable brand (Siena is owned by Resident Home, the parent company behind Nectar and DreamCloud) and promises a medium-firm feel to suit most sleep styles. While we haven't tested the 8" model, its 10" upgrade earned high praise in our Siena Memory Foam Mattress review. Right now a queen is only $179 which is the lowest price we've spotted and exceptional value for money. At 8" tall it's under our recommended mattress thickness for adults but it should still provide support in the short-term. If you want a very cheap hybrid mattress, consider The Allswell 10" Hybrid below at $194 for a twin.
Ideal for: Heavier people; those who love firm beds
3. Zinus 12" Green Tea Memory Foam (full): $239.99 now $203.99 at Amazon
While there are much bigger price drops happening in the Memorial Day sale, $203.99 for a full size, 12-inch Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam is a good price and a return to the cheapest price we've seen it sell for this year ($203.99 during the Presidents' Day sales). There are many sizes, heights and versions of this cheap bed-in-a-box and in our Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress review we scored it highly for motion isolation and cradling pressure relief, but marked it down for weak edge support and temperature control. Therefore skip this is you need a mattress that's breathable and easy to get in and out of – consider the Nectar Classic (above) at $649 instead as that's a firmer and more breathable all-foam mattress.
Ideal for: Lightweight side sleepers; guest rooms
4. The Allswell 10" Hybrid Mattress (queen): $317 now $294 at Walmart
It's gone up by $10 over the last few days, but $294 for a queen is still a good price for this excellent budget hybrid mattress. It boasts exceptional medium-firm support with a minimal amount of pressure relief – which should suit if you don't need a lot of cushioning to sleep soundly. But avoid it if you weigh over 200lbs or suffer from back pain.
Ideal for: Average weight back and stomach sleepers
5. Siena Memory Foam Mattress (queen): $278 at Amazon
The Siena ticked all the boxes during our Siena Memory Foam Mattress review, delivering comfort and support beyond its budget price tag. Firmer than expected, the stomach and back sleepers on our team loved the feel and despite being a cheap all-foam model it didn't trap heat. While $359 for a queen is excellent value for money, it is a fairly standard deal from Siena. This Siena Amazon store deal, however, drops it further lower to $278 for a queen, one of the biggest discounts we've seen so far. Plus, Amazon honors the 180-night trial and 10-year warranty you'll get direct from Siena.
Ideal for: Stomach sleepers; back sleepers
Memorial Day mattress sales: $500-$999
1. Emma Hybrid Cooling Comfort mattress (queen): $1,539 now $615 at Emma
This six-layered hybrid mattress stands at 13" and combines specialist Airgocell Foam, seven-zone pocket springs and durable foam to create a cool sleep environment with maximum airflow. Top it off with the moisture-wicking cover and you have a mattress that's designed to keep you fresh and comfortable all night. With a medium-firm feel rated at a 5, we expect this to suit side sleepers best. This Emma mattress sale beats Black Friday, where we saw a queen drop to $695, so $615 (was $1,539) is a fantastic saving. You'll also get a 100-night trial, free shipping and returns and a 10-year warranty.
Ideal for: Hot sleepers, side sleepers
2. DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid (queen): $649 at DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Memorial Day sale is nothing new but considering this is our favorite mattress in a box, we think the budget-friendly price is still good value for money. Right now a queen DreamCloud is $649 for a queen, which beats the Black Friday price of $665. It's not quite as good as the $599 flash sale we spotted last month but that was a rare mega saving from a brand that usually sticks with the same deal. And as the mattress has undergone a slight redesign, we doubt we'll see that record low price again anytime soon. You'll still get a 365-night sleep trial, lifetime warranty, and free shipping and returns, plus the all-round support that stood out in our DreamCloud mattress review.
Ideal for: Couples; people with back and hip pain
3. Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress (queen): $649 at Nectar
Our Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress review team was initially surprised by the firmer feel of this all-foam mattress but the pressure relief soon made itself known and we think the medium-firm build is a good all-rounder. Nectar's Memorial Day mattress sale is nothing unusual — $649 for a queen is the standard cost — but it's still an excellent price and with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty you're getting good value.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers; combination sleepers
4. Cocoon by Sealy Chill Mattress (queen): $1,079 now $699 at Cocoon by Sealy
Our Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress review team called this one of the best budget cooling mattresses they've tested. This is essentially an all-foam mattress, offering soft cushioning and support but without the 'sink-in' feeling that's usually associated with memory foam. It scored well for temperature regulation, motion isolation and pressure relief making our reviewers come to the conclusion that it's a cool, comfortable mattress at a great price. This isn't a new deal for Memorial Day, but it is fantastic value for money. Plus you get a 100-night sleep trial, 10-year warranty and free shipping.
Ideal for: Hot sleepers; couples, back and stomach sleepers
Memorial Day mattress sales: $1,000-$1,499
1. Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress (queen): $1,399 now $1,199 at Beautyrest
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux is a premium hybrid mattress that offers a firm feel - although there are other firmness options available. This bed is perfect for back and stomach sleepers and features advanced cooling technology and pressure-relieving comfort layers. Our Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress review found that this bed's T3 Pocketed Coil Technology also provides exceptional support and motion isolation. There are massive savings right now with the Beautyrest Black Friday sales with up to $600 off. That brings the cost of a queen down to $1,199 (was $1,399) and also includes epic perks including a 100-night sleep trial, 10-year warranty and White Glove delivery.
Ideal for: Back and stomach sleepers
2. Marriott Foam Mattress (queen): $1,995 now $1,296.75 at Shop Marriott
Most mattresses used in hotels are hybrids; the Marriott is unusual in that it offers an all-foam bed. Made using soy-based foams, the Marriott hotel mattress promises a "quick-recovery" feel that we suspect is similar to the buoyant pressure relief of a latex mattress. A queen is now only $1,296.75 down from $1,995 (or $1,615.25, if you add a box spring) in the 35% off sale, which is among the lowest priced hotel mattresses. If you prefer a traditional feel, the Marriott Innerspring Mattress is also available at Shop Marriott.
Ideal for: Pressure relief; side sleepers; hot sleepers
3. Amerisleep AS3 Foam mattress (queen): $1,749 now $1,149 at Amerisleep
While the Amerisleep AS3 comes in an hybrid version (which we tested for our Amerisleep AS3 mattress review) the all foam mattress discounted here uses Bio-Pur memory foam instead of traditional foam, which is a much cooler, breathable material, as well as being adaptive and responsive to your body. With a medium feel at 12" tall, we expect this mattress to suit most sleepers and hot sleepers thanks to its hive technology for maximum airflow. The current sale beats the Black Friday price of $1,249, so $1,149 (was $1,749) is a fantastic deal we recommend taking advantage of. You'll also get an impressive 20-year warranty, free shipping and returns and a 100-night trial.
Ideal for: All sleepers, hot sleepers
4. Leesa Sapira Hybrid Mattress (queen): $1,999 now $1,399 at Leesa
The Leesa Sapira Hybrid uses dense foams to create cushioning at the shoulders, hips and knees; we loved it for side sleeping. Our Leesa Sapira Hybrid Mattress review team also praised the motion isolation, as the mattress simply eats up movement from a restless partner. For that reason, it's one of our favorite mattresses for couples, although you might want something firmer if you or your partner prefer stomach sleeping. Leesa's Memorial Day sale has kicked off with 30% off and a free sleep bundle, matching the deal we saw during Black Friday. That means you can save up to $690 (on a king size) with a queen now only $1,399. It comes with a 100-night trial and lifetime warranty.
Ideal for: Those who bedshare with a restless partner
5. Casper Dream mattress (queen): $1,895 now $1,325 at Casper
The Casper Dream Hybrid mattress features the signature Breathe and Align memory foam layers and a set of flex coils. We think the design will result in enhanced back support, making it a good choice for those experiencing back pain. The current 30% off sale reduces a queen to $1,325 (was $1,895), and we don't think you'll see the price drop any lower, so shop now.
Ideal for: Combination sleepers
Memorial Day mattress sales: $1,500-$1,999
1. Purple Plus Mattress (queen): $1,899 now $1,599 at Purple
In our Purple Plus Mattress review we were impressed with how this bed uses GelFlex Grid technology to create adaptable comfort that cushions every sleep position. The unusual feel can take a few nights to get used to but you do have a 100-night trial for that — although we might have hoped for a longer testing period from this price bracket. Purple mattress sales are unpredictable and we've already seen some changes (last week you could have picked up a free pillow set in addition to your saving) but we suspect this is going to be the best price you'll get on the Plus.
Ideal for: Pressure relief, hot sleepers, back pain
2. Saatva Classic Mattress (queen): $2,099 now $1,799 at Saatva
Our Saatva Classic Mattress review team didn't find much to complain about when testing this luxury mattress, apart from the $99 return fee. Available in three firmness options and two heights, it's suitable for most sleep needs, making the Saatva Classic our favorite hybrid mattress on the market. Enhanced lumbar support means that the Classic is also a great option for those suffering with aches and pains. We think this five-star mattress is worth every cent and right now you can save up to $300 in the extended Saatva Memorial Day mattress sale. A queen is $1,799 (was $2,099) and you'll also get free white glove delivery, a 365-night trial and forever warranty.
Ideal for: Back support; all sleep styles; couples
3. Helix Midnight Luxe mattress (queen): $2,373.33 now $1,732.54 at Helix with code TOMS27
The Helix Midnight Luxe is the best mattress for side sleepers we've tested. The plush cushioning contours to the shoulders and hips to keep you pain free when lying on your side and the coil base delivers enough support to keep back sleepers happy. We recommend springing for the GlacioTex cooling upgrade if you tend to sleep hot (our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review team found it could get warm) because as you can currently save 27% using code TOMS27 you might have room in the budget. A queen with GlacioTex upgrade is now only $1,914.55 (versus $1,231.54 without.) You also get a 100-night trial and lifetime warranty plus a free bedding bundle.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers
4. Westin Heavenly Bed (queen): $2,495 now $1,621.75 at Westin Store
Westin Hotels spent many months developing the original Westin Heavenly Bed to create a mattress that keeps guests coming back for more. We got our hands-on the Westin Heavenly Bed 2.0 and found the plush luxury design best for side and back sleepers, with a cooler sleep feel courtesy of embedded silver fibers. In the 35% off sale a queen Heavenly Bed mattress is now $1,621.75 (was $,2495), or $1,946.75 with a box spring (was $2,995.)
Ideal for: Back sleepers; side sleepers; hot sleepers
5. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt mattress (queen): $2,199 now $1,999 at Tempur-Pedic
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are often known for their squishy pressure relief, but our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt mattress review team was most impressed with the support of this luxury mattress. We rate it among the best mattresses for back pain, as it cushions and lifts the spine at the same time. As a premium design the sales are the best time to shop the Tempur-Adapt and right now you can save $200 on all sizes. The 10-year warranty and 90-day trial are disappointing for this price bracket but free white glove delivery is a nice plus.
Ideal for: Back pain, joint pain
Memorial Day mattress sales: $2,000+
1. Puffy Royal mattress (queen): $3,649 now $2,299 at Puffy
The Puffy Royal is a lavish design with a plush, sink-in feel to deliver cradling comfort. In our Puffy Royal mattress review we found this premium design lives up to its kingly name, delivering impressive motion isolation and breathability (although we'd hoped for better edge support at this price range.) The Memorial Day sale at Puffy sees the return of its evergreen deal and we doubt you'll see a bigger price drop during this sales season — we spotted the same discounts over Black Friday. But you do get free sleep accessories, plus a 101-night trial and a lifetime warranty.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers
2. Casper Snow Max (queen): $3,795 now $2,655 at Casper
We think this is a good cross between Casper's two popular mattresses. the Casper Snow and the Dream Hybrid. Compared to the other two memory foam cooling beds, this is a medium-firm mattresses with a 7-layer hybrid construction combining align memory foam, flex support coils and specialist cooling technology. This has twice the more HeatDelete bands than the base model along with the brand's signature Snow technology and a top layer of Soothe Memory foam preventing night-sweats. We recommend it most suitable for combination sleepers as it provides excellent support for all sleeping positions. The Casper Snow Max is now 30% off in the extended Memorial Day sale; a slight drop from the 35% off we saw on the day itself but still a good deal. This also includes a 100-night trial, 10-year limited warranty and free shipping.
Ideal for: Hot sleepers, combination sleepers
3. Ritz-Carlton Mattress (queen): $3,440 now $2,580 at Ritz-Carlton
Ritz-Carlton hotels are synonymous with luxury and the Ritz-Carlton mattress promises that same indulgent comfort at home. The custom designed hybrid mattress features a thick pillow-top to deliver full-body pressure relief, while the "precise attention to detail" build should offer good longevity. This is one of the most expensive hotel mattresses around but the 25% off sale offers a significant saving. A queen mattress is $2,580 (was $3,440) but for the full Ritz-Carlton experience, consider adding the box spring. Together, the price for a queen is $2,970 (was $3,960.)
Ideal for: Hot sleepers; joint pain
4. Stearns & Foster Lux Estate (queen): $2,999 now $2,599 at Stearns & Foster
One of the best luxury mattress brands out there, Stearns & Foster bring the Lux Estate, a hybrid pillow-top mattress made for absolute indulgence. Combining Tempur-Indulge memory foam, Intellicoil springs and 8 Airvents for a cool sleep, we expect this mattress to suit nearly every sleeper. Especially since you can choose the exact firmness feel you like. The current sale matches that of Black Friday, with a queen currently at $2,599 (was $2,999) plus a free $300 visa gift card. You'll get a 90-night sleep trial, a 10-year warranty and complimentary white glove delivery.
Ideal for: All sleepers, hot sleepers
5. Sleep Number i8 Smart Bed (queen): $3,999 now $2,799.30 at Sleep Number
Sleep Number beds take a hands-on approach to comfort, as each mattress is fitted with a series of adjustable air chambers that can be controlled from your phone. By inflating and deflating each chamber, you can make the mattress firmer or softer, while a series of integrated sleep trackers allow the mattress to respond to your needs even as you sleep (great if you like to change position in the night.) Smart beds and mattresses are often premium purchases but for Memorial Day Sleep Number is offering up to 30% off the i8. That reduces a queen to $2,799.30 (was $3,999), plus a 100-night trial and 15-year warranty.
Ideal for: Adjustable firmness; sleep tracking
6. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Mattress (queen): was from $2,199 now from $1,999 + $300 in free accessories at Tempur-Pedic
All sizes of the Tempur-Adapt are $200 off for Memorial Day. This is a standard discount from the brand, but savings from Tempur-Pedic don't come around very often. Also included are free White Glove Delivery, a 90-night trial, and a 10-year warranty.
Ideal for: Back pain relief, back sleepers
Memorial Day mattress topper sales
If you're not quite happy with your bed but don't have the budget for a new mattress, a topper can extend the lifespan of your mattress. In the Memorial Day sales, we're seeing high-quality toppers on sale for around $100-$200.
1. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Mattress Topper (queen): $349 now $299 at Tempur-Pedic
In our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Mattress Topper review we agreed that this topper is a great way to experience the "outstanding pressure relief" of a Tempur-Pedic mattress without the associated price tag. It softens up a firm mattress to enhance cushioning for side and back sleepers but keep in mind it can sleep hot — if you experience night sweats, we recommend investing in the cooling upgrade. You can save up to 20% with code TOPPERS, reducing a queen to $299 (was $349) which is pricey but considering this is one of the best mattress toppers you can buy online, it might be worth the investment.
Ideal for: Side sleepers, too-firm mattresses
2. Tuft & Needle Mattress Topper (queen): $250 now $150 at Amazon
Tuft & Needle is a popular sleep brand and this topper promises a similar feel to its premium mattresses on a smaller scale (and at a lower price.) At just two inches thick this is unlikely to have the transformative feel of deeper toppers but it should still add pressure relief if you've found your current mattress is pressing against your joints. It's been a while since we've spotted a sale this good and at $150 for a queen, the current deal beats the Black Friday price. You also get a three-year warranty.
Ideal for: Joint pain
3. Casper Comfy Mattress Topper (queen): $299 now $269.10 at Casper
While we've seen the price of the Casper Comfy Topper fluctuate in the past, the 10% discount has not budged over the past year (not even for Black Friday). So, you're safe to buy now if your rock-hard bed needs softening ASAP. Our lead tester for our Casper Comfy Mattress Topper review found it to be a great, cost-effective alternative to this year's best side-sleeper mattress thanks to its plush comfort. It also sleeps incredibly cool for an all-foam mattress, making it ideal if you sleep hot.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; softening hard mattresses
4. Hybrid Lux Mattress Topper (queen): $259.95 now $199.95 at ViscoSoft
I don't think I've ever seen this topper without a 25% discount, meaning the starting price will always be under $150. Our testers for the ViscoSoft Hybrid Lux Mattress Topper review loved the dual-layered design which combines a cushioning, breathable pillow top with a base of supportive, body-contouring memory foam.
Ideal for: Back and side sleepers; breathable comfort

Mattress protectors
Utopia Bedding Waterproof Bamboo mattress protector (twin): $14.99 now $12.99 at Amazon
Need a budget mattress protector? This is our top recommendation: it was completely waterproof, noiseless and breathable in our tests, but lost points in our Utopia Bedding Waterproof Bamboo review due to its slippery nature, which meant that although it was easy to ft, it didn't stay on all night. Right now, a twin costs $12.99 (was $14.99) while a queen is currently $17.99 (was $19.99), although we have seen it $1 cheaper in recent days. There's a 30-day return period.
Pillows
Beckham Hotel pillow and protector (set of two; queen): $89.98 now $69.99 at Amazon
This luxurious pillow set bundle will remind you of sleeping at your favorite hotel. It's made from 100% polyester fiber and 250 thread-count cotton, and mimics the plushness of a down pillow, providing a cooling, comfortable, supportive and hypoallergenic exeperience. We found it to have excellent temperature regulation in our review: it's suitable for hot sleepers (although if you're a very hot sleeper, consider a more dedicated cooling pillow like the Casper above or the Coop Cool+). Usually Amazon just sells the pillows, but they're avaliable to buy in a bundle for Memorial Day, with a $20 discount.
Casper Hybrid Pillow with Snow Technology (standard): $149 now $134.10 at Casper
The Casper Hybrid Snow is the best pillow in 2025 because "it simply does it all". We gave it a full five stars in our review. Crafted from cushioning memory foam and specialized cooling tech — including HeatDelete bands, a cool-to-touch cover and AirScape technology (perforations on the surface, essentially, that promote airflow) — it's a great option for side sleepers and anyone prone to overheating. There's 10% off in Casper's Memorial Day sale, which drops a standard-size pillow from $149 to $134.10 while a king will cost you $161.10 (was $179). You get a 30-night sleep trial, one-year warranty, and free shipping.

Memorial Day Sleep Accessory Sales
Products like sleep masks, ear plugs and pillow sprays can help you fall asleep fast and sleep through the night. And we're seeing fantastic deals on sleep accessories this Memorial Day. Here are the top 5 so far.
1. Loop Quiet 2 Earplugs: was $27.95 now $20.95 at Amazon
The one thing that helps our Tom's Guide sleep team sleep through the night is a good pair of earplugs. The Loop Quiet 2 earplugs are made from soft silicone for a super comfortable fit, and they reduce noise by 24 dB — enough to prevent your external environment from waking you up. The current Memorial Day sale at Amazon takes 25% off the black, mint, violet and white colors, bringing the price down to $20.95 (was $27.95). This includes four ear tip sizes, including XS, S, M and L.
Ideal for: Sleepers who need silence
2. Bob & Brad EyeOasis 2 Eye Massager: was $59.99 now $49.99 at Amazon
The best environment for sleep is a dark one, but we can't always completely block out light from our bedrooms (especially in the summer). The Bob & Brad EyeOasis 2 doesn't just prevent light from waking you up, it also stimulates pressure points, massages your eyes and heats up for maximum relaxation before bed, as well as a lot more. After trying this eye massager, we were impressed. This kind of advanced tech inevitably comes with a premium price, but in the current sale, you can get 17% off, dropping the price to $49.99 (was $59.99). We think that's great value for a gadget that'll improve your nighttime routine.
Ideal for: Sleepers with stress
3. JALL Sunrise Alarm Clock: was $49.99 now $29.98 at Amazon
There's no better way to wake up than to a sunrise. Trust us, we've tested the best sunrise alarm clocks of the year, and the Jall made it into the lineup thanks to its budget price and simple design. During our Jall Wake-Up Light review, we were impressed with its wide range of colors, sounds (including frogs and crackling fire) and brightness, meaning you can create the perfect sunrise for your routine. For Memorial Day, the price has dropped to $29.98 (was $49.99). It's already a fantastic budget option, and with this deal, the value for money is fantastic.

This Blissy Silk Sleep Mask is made from 100% pure Mulberry silk that promises total blackout. You won't find any toxic chemicals here, only hypoallergenic, anti-aging silk. More top Memorial Day mattress sales to browse
If you still haven't found what you're looking for, or would like to browse the Memorial Day mattress sales yourself, here are the retailers we most recomment looking at.
Amazon mattress sale: budget beds from $80
For very tight budgets, you can usually find mattresses under $100 in the Amazon Memorial Day sale but be aware these cheaper builds will lack support and durability. When shopping for a budget bed, keep these three factors in mind: CertiPur-US certification, a thickness of 8 inches or more and a sleep trial. But it's not all about the cheap options — in recent months we've spotted excellent discounts on older models from brands such as Nectar and DreamCloud.
Best Buy: up to $170 off big-name sleep brands
There are some big name mattress brands available at Best Buy: we've spotted deals from Serta and GhostBed. The best savings tend to be reserved for older models — if a newer design has caught your eye, we recommend double checking the price at the manufacturer. Bear in mind that sometimes it's cheaper to buy direct from the brand.
Macy's mattress sale: up to 72% off clearance sale
Macy's mattress sales includes major discounts in the clearance section — we're talking up to 72% off legacy sleep brands including Sealy and Serta. If saving is your main priority, these deals can be worth your attention. However, make sure to read the fine print as the clearance sale mattresses often lack a warranty or trial.
Walmart mattress sale: budget options from $80
Like Amazon, Walmart is one of the best places to find a super cheap mattresses. Although as with Amazon, be cautious that these models typically lack the support an adult body needs in the long-term. Walmart occasionally has interesting deals on past models from leading brands such as Cocoon by Sealy, but you need a sharp eye for these savings. Look out for deals from Walmart's own mattress brand; Allswell.
Analysis: How good are the Memorial Day mattress sales this year?
- There are no new mattress deals for Memorial Day from the top brands
- We’ve seen the same prices in most major sales for the last 12 months
- Prices are likely to rise soon due to Trump's new tariffs, though
- We may see worse deals over Black Friday

I've been tracking mattress prices and watching industry trends for over two years now. Here's what I think about the Memorial Day deals this year.
Memorial Day is a major player when it comes to mattress sales, traditionally second only to the Black Friday period when it comes to big discounts.
However, over the last 12 months, it's become increasingly clear that Black Friday and Memorial Day are no longer the two best mattress sales of the year.
Since last May, we've seen many of the big-name mattress brands broadly repeating the same deals in all the major online sales — and that's certainly the case for Memorial Day 2025, where we're seeing much of the same pricing we saw on Black Friday and Presidents' Day.
For example, a queen-size Saatva Classic currently costs $1,699 in the Memorial Day sales — just $4 more than it was over Black Friday and Presidents' Day ($1,695).
Helix, meanwhile, has again announced 25% off (or up to 27% using code TOMS27), which makes the price of a queen-size Midnight Luxe $1,732.54. That's the same as it was over Presidents' Day and Black Friday.
No new deals
What we haven’t spotted is any new, or unusual sales pricing — most of the deals on this page appeared over Black Friday and President’s Day. Claire Davies, Managing Editor, Sleep, at Tom’s Guide, calls this year's Memorial Day sales “predictable.”
“The large majority of mattress deals we’ve seen so far this year, we saw last year too," she says. "It's the same deals, and the same price — and free bedding bundles, which we used to have by the boatload, are becoming thin on the ground.”
Row 0 - Cell 0 | Memorial Day '25 | April '25 | President's Day '25 | Black Friday '24 | Memorial Day '24 | Presidents' Day '24 | Black Friday 2023 | Memorial Day 2023 |
Saatva Classic | $1,699 | $1,799 | $1,695 | $1,695 | $1,695 | $1,595 | $1,595 | $1,620 |
Helix Midnight Luxe | $1,732.54 | $1,899 | $1,732.54 | $1,732.53 | $1,661.66 | $1,780.40 | $1,780.40 | $1,780.30 |
The DreamCloud | $649 | $599 | $665 | $665 | $665 | $665 | $799 | $799 |
Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam 10" (Amazon) | $177 | $177 | $195 | $209 | $220 | $230 | N/A | N/A |
Lucid Memory Foam Mattress (10") | $349.99 | $349.99 | $349.99 | $339.99 | $237.99 | $214.19 | $339.99 | N/A |
Avocado Green | $1,784.15 | $1,999 | $1,699 | $1,699 | $1,699.15 | $1,799 | $1,799 | $1,799 |
Ritz-Carlton Bed | $2,580 | $2,580 | $2,580 | $2,752 | $2,752 | $3,440 | $2,752 | $3,440 |
But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. A predictable sale is better than no sale, particularly as mattress prices are set to become decidedly unpredictable over the next few months...
Yes, we’re talking about tariffs.
Summer price-hikes
International tariffs imposed by the Trump presidency are likely to result in the cost of your mattress going up, with few brands unaffected.
“Tariffs have the potential to impact the entire industry — particularly brands that rely heavily on overseas manufacturing. Even US-based companies aren’t completely immune, since many still source specific components globally,” Byron Golub, Vice-President of Product and Merchandising at Saatva, told us.
That means memory foam (frequently imported from China, Indonesia and Vietnam), latex foams (often manufactured in Sri Lanka), steel (for coils) and fabrics (for covers) all risk tariff increases.
Even the physical act of making a mattress could become more expensive; compression machines used to collapse your boxed bed often come from Italy or China.
And with tariffs proving unpredictable, mattress manufacturers are having to negotiate price changes based on shifting expectations.
“The 90-day tariff pause has given manufacturers a brief window to plan,” says Golub, “but if current proposals go into effect, we may begin seeing price adjustments as early as this summer.”
It’s an opinion we agree with. “I haven’t seen many mattress brands and retailers talk on the record about tariff increases yet," reflects Davies. "Saatva and Walmart are the most noticeable so far, and Avocado Green has increased prices by about 6% but won’t comment on whether it’s directly related to tariffs — but I suspect we’ll hear more after the Memorial Day sales have ended.”
Bad news for budget mattresses
The tariffs could spell particularly bad news for cheaper mattresses. Already working with thin margins, these mattresses are often manufactured outside the US, or rely more heavily on imports of budget materials from China, Vietnam, Indonesia and other countries.
Of course, cheap mattresses aren’t going away entirely. Davies suggests the budget market may become dominated by online retail giants such as Amazon, “which can afford to sit on huge stockpiles of cheap mattresses and sell them for bargain basement prices.”
In fact, there might be some good news for consumers… followed by bad news. Davies notes the tariffs could make manufacturing some budget beds untenable, leading to discontinuation and “more clearance sales temporarily.”
After that, however, we’re expecting a downturn in offers and a rethink of what a ‘cheap’ mattress costs. Davies predicts that although Memorial Day is unlikely to be the last bastion of truly cheap mattress prices, it could signal the beginning of the end. “Next summer could be bleaker and more expensive for people wanting to buy a comfy mattress for less,” she notes.
Tariffs are arriving hand-in-hand with conservative spending trends — which are also expected to impact mattress pricing.
The National Retail Federation predicts a mattress and box spring currently costing $2,000 will rise to $2,128 due to tariffs. And with the average household predicted to spend around $4,900 more this year than 2024, fewer consumers might be interested in investing in a luxury mattress.
So are these deals as good as it gets?
How will the mattress industry respond: will prices rise to offset a lack of spending? Could deals improve to entice shoppers in?
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon explained in a recent Q1 earnings call that while the retailer aims to keep prices down, it isn't able to “absorb all the pressure given the reality of narrow retail margins.”
“Depending on the final structure of the tariffs, the mattress industry can expect to see increased input costs across the board, and for some brands, this could translate to higher retail prices or slower lead times,” Saatva's Golub told us.
With an uncertain landscape ahead, Memorial Day is increasingly looking like a good time to buy a mattress. Black Friday might offer the same discounts as we're seeing today, but with potential MSRP increases on the horizon, the discounts are unlikely to result in prices as low as those we're seeing this May. If you need a new mattress, we suspect now is the time.
Last chance for a deal?
Are the Memorial Day sales the last bastion of truly cheap mattress prices? Not necessarily, but they could signal the beginning of the end. There will always be cheap beds on sale, but I think where we shop for them will change, with more people purchasing from online retail giants like Amazon, which can afford to sit on huge stockpiles of cheap mattresses and sell them for bargain basement prices. I also think the number of cheap mattresses available to choose from could shrink as some manufacturers are squeezed with tight margins.
We might see some cheaper mattresses discontinued completely. If that happens, we could actually end up with more clearance sales temporarily, as brands scramble to offload mattresses they can no longer afford to make, due to tariff increases, yet also don’t want gathering dust in a warehouse.
Black Friday and next summer may well be bleaker and more expensive, though, for people wanting to save money on a comfortable mattress.

Memorial Day mattress sales 2025: need to know
When do the 2025 Memorial Day mattress sales start?
Now! Memorial Day 2025 falls on May 26 — but all the mattress sales are now live, and based on previous years, prices are now unlikely to change. This follows a pattern we've seen over recent sales events, with discounts starting earlier and earlier.
After Memorial Day, some sales will end immediately, while others will hang around until the end of the week. By the start of June, most deals will have finished. After that, the next big sales event is the 4th of July, but we don't expect to see the same level of savings - especially with the new tariffs that are looming.
Is Memorial Day a good time to buy a mattress?
Yes, and even more so this year, given the liklihood of mattress prices rising due to the new tariffs.
It's also worth noting that mattress prices traditionally rise anyway over the summer months, before dropping again in winter. Whether they drop this winter remains to be seen.
Where to find the best Memorial Day mattress sales
Shopping online will often get you the best Memorial Day mattress sales, as online retailers don't have the same associated costs of brick and mortar stores. These savings are then passed on to the consumer — that's why the best mattresses in a box tend to be excellent value for money.
Another advantage to shopping online is the sheer breadth of deals. You can find discounts on everything from budget memory foam mattresses to the latest sleep tech, and you can browse them all from the comfort of your own home.
This can, however, be overwhelming, which is why we aim to make the mattress shopping process as easy as possible. We track the mattress sales year-round, so we've learned to differentiate between the top savings, the deals we see regularly that are still good value, and the sales that aren't worth your time.
How to avoid a bad deal – red flags to look for
Our number one piece of advice when buying a mattress is to choose a bed with a sleep trial. A sleep trial is a set period of time (100 nights is standard) in which you can test the mattress at home. If it isn't right for your sleep needs, you can return it either for free or a small charge.
If a mattress doesn't have a sleep trial, you lose this testing period and you might end up with a bad mattress (or a mattress that isn't right for you.)
There are a few times you can overlook the trial. If a mattress is incredibly cheap, you're less likely to mind the risk. And if you're opting for a clearance bed, you might feel the discount is good enough to sacrifice the testing period.
Don't forget to check the mattress warranty, as well. A 10-year warranty is standard and should cover factory defaults and imperfections beyond the usual wear and tear.
Our second piece of advice is to ignore the flashy countdown banners and promised discounts. Focus on the final sale price, instead.
Some mattress brands like to raise the MSRP before a sale day so they can then promise a bigger discount. However, the actual cost of the mattress remains the same. In some rare cases, it might even be more expensive than before.
